Queen Amina Of Zazzau

Image
You came from a family of Queens and Kings and you should know it! This is a long read, we believe it's worth reading it. All Afrikans should learn their true history as told by their own people. Like our true leader Marcus Garvey once said, "People without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without a roots." Know your true history, have some root to stand your ground and share it to help other brother and sisters to stand their ground too!  •Queen Aminatue or Queen Amina of Zazzau was born in 1533 in Zazzau, a city state in the Kingdom of Hausa, located somewhere between the Niger River and Lake Chad in the modern-day Nigeria. She was the eldest child of King Nikatau and Queen Bakwa Turunku. •Born during the reign of her grandfather, King Sarkin Nohir, she had two known siblings, a younger brother named Karama and a sister named Zaria. From the beginning, she was her grandfather’s favorite; he took her around the court, in...

Image
“So what should I be watching?” When you write about television, you get asked this question a lot. It’s impossible to answer. Television has become such a wildly diverse, densely populated planet that asking “What should I watch?” is like asking “Where should I go on vacation?” But ask, “What is the best show ever?’ and the answer is easy: “Game of Thrones.” There are television series that more people have watched, that more people have loved, series that have more specifically aided our growth as a society, better showcased a single performance or more clearly set a template for other shows to follow. But “Game of Thrones,” adapted for HBO by D.B. Weiss and David Benioff from the book series by George R.R. Martin, is, and will possibly remain, the only television series that can be truly described as epic. No other series has ever built such a deeply detailed and far-flung world, with a geography as varied as its social constructs, religions, languages. No other s...
